Free AI correction for IELTS Writing and Speaking

Last updated September 13, 2026

Short answer: ParrotTalk gives a free AI correction of your IELTS Writing Task 1, Writing Task 2 and Speaking answers: an estimated band on the four official criteria, the points where marks were lost, and the exact fix to make. 100% free, no sign-up, no card.

A correction is not a score. A score tells you where you stand; a correction tells you what to change. Every Writing essay and every Speaking answer sent to ParrotTalk comes back with both: the band, and the sentences that cost you marks with the fix written next to them.

What does the AI correction include?

Three things, every time.

Is there a free AI correction for IELTS Writing?

Yes. Open the Writing Checker, paste a Task 1 report or a Task 2 essay, and the correction comes back in seconds. Both tasks are supported, for Academic and General Training. You can correct as many essays as you want; there is no essay quota to unlock.

Is there a free AI correction for IELTS Speaking?

Yes. On the Speaking test, you record your answers to Part 1, Part 2 and Part 3 questions. The recording is transcribed and corrected on fluency and coherence, lexical resource, and grammatical range and accuracy, with an estimated band. Pronunciation is estimated from the transcript only, not from the audio signal, and recordings are discarded after grading.

Is the AI correction really free?

Yes, 100% free, with no sign-up and no card. There is no paid tier that unlocks a fuller correction: the same scoring engine runs for every test-taker, and the same correction is included in the full mock test and the Quick Mock Test.

How strict is the correction?

Strict rather than generous. After each test, ParrotTalk asks how the band compared with what you expected. Among 405 test-takers who answered, 58% found their band lower than expected, 25% about right, 17% higher. The scoring is anchored to the official band descriptors, not tuned to feel encouraging. The full figures are on the proof page.

Is the corrected band an official IELTS score?

No. It is an AI estimate. It can differ from an official result by roughly half a band to a full band, and ParrotTalk publishes no accuracy figure it has not measured. Use the band as a direction and the correction as the work list. ParrotTalk is independent and not affiliated with IELTS, the British Council, IDP, or Cambridge English.
