Last updated September 16, 2026

Short answer: ParrotTalk has 4 free IELTS Listening practice tests, each with four recorded sections and 40 questions in about 30 minutes, the audio played once as in the real exam, automatic scoring and an estimated band the moment you submit. Each test has its own page with what the sections cover and the full answer key. No sign-up.

Pick a test below. "Open test page" shows the four section topics, the question types and the answer key; "Start" opens the Listening page with that test already selected. The recordings are produced by ParrotTalk, with distinct voices for each section, and follow the shape of the IELTS Listening test: a conversation about an everyday need, a talk for visitors or new members, a tutorial with a lecturer and students, then a lecture.

The format, test by test

Each test follows the IELTS Listening format: four sections, 40 questions, about 30 minutes on the exam clock plus 2 minutes to check your answers before submitting. Section 1 is a form to complete during a two-person conversation, Section 2 a map or plan to label plus multiple-choice questions on a talk, Section 3 a tutorial with multiple choice, matching and short notes, Section 4 a lecture with notes to complete. In exam mode the audio plays once, without pause, and the questions appear as the recording reaches them; a practice mode, chosen before you start, allows replaying. At the end you get your raw score out of 40, the estimated band from the official-style conversion table, and a breakdown per section, saved on your dashboard.

Quick answers

Are these IELTS Listening practice tests free?

Yes. The 4 tests are completely free, with no sign-up, no email and no card, and there is no limit on how many times you take them. Each test page also gives the full answer key.

How long does each test take, and how is it scored?

About 30 minutes on the exam clock, plus 2 minutes to check your answers before submitting, as in the computer-delivered exam. The 40 answers are scored automatically the moment you submit, and the raw score is converted to an estimated band with the official-style table, the same for Academic and General Training. The full table is on the band score calculator.

Are these official IELTS tests?

No. They are practice tests in the format of the IELTS Listening test, with recordings produced by ParrotTalk, and the band is an estimate to track your progress, not an official result. ParrotTalk is independent and not affiliated with IELTS, the British Council, IDP, or Cambridge English.

ParrotTalk is free, with no sign-up. Bands are estimates, not official IELTS results. The Quick Mock Test also draws one Listening section at random; see the Quick Mock Test page.
